Vintage 2017

Vicarage Lane Wine’s 2017 Sauvignon Blanc crop was machine harvested on 7, 10-11 April, yielding 116.88 tonnes of good quality fruit.

The harvested fruit was pressed at Spring Creek Vintners, just a few kilometres from the vineyard, yielding 93,428 litres of juice, which will be crafted into Vicarage Lane’s 2017 Sauvignon Blanc under the watchful eye of renowned New Zealand winemaker Alan McCorkindale. Initial bottling of the finished wine will take place in early June and, after rigorous export testing to ensure the wine meets New Zealand’s high export standards, the first export shipment can be expected to arrive in Finland late in the northern summer.
Vicarage Lane's Sauvignon Blanc harvest 2013

In general 2016-17 was a difficult season, with higher than average rainfall at both the beginning and end of the season. This included the harvest period, in April, leading to challenges that had to be overcome, both in the vineyard and the winery, to produce the best possible wines.
