    • Accommodation
    • Homestay Accommodation

    • For a short stay amongst the vines, we offer homestay accommodation in our Blenheim guesthouse, Vau Vineyard Cottage, which is situated within our working vineyard.

This lovely self-catering vineyard accommodation unit overlooks the vines near our own house and is a great base from which to undertake any of the fun activities that Marlborough has to offer, from fishing to mountain biking to some sumptuous dining or wine tasting experiences.

The name "Vau" is a combination of the Kiwi tradition of giving things basic names and then abbreviating them, plus the Finnish description for it.

So in Kiwi, our "Vineyard Accommodation Unit" is abbreviated to Vau, which in Finnish means Wow! - a very appropriate description for it.

    • Your Hosts
    • About Your Hosts

    • John Kennard and Satu Lappalainen, owners of Vicarage Lane Wines, are your hosts at Vau Vineyard Cottage.

When John and Satu moved to Blenheim, they fell in love with the beautiful views and really wanted to give other people the opportunity to experience the same tranquil beauty.

So they renovated part of a shed in their yard and changed it to a great little self-contained cottage.

Now you too have the chance to enjoy "vineyard living" by making a booking for our busy little vineyard cottage.

    • This Airbnb is a true gem. We absolutely loved our stay and wished we had more time because two nights was not enough.

We checked in and immediately ventured across the road to a vineyard! If you’re looking for peace and quiet, this is it! Morning views were stunning! There are so many great things I could say. One day we hired a local company and they picked us up at the Airbnb and we spent the day enjoying wine country...

Thank You, Satu, for the lovely, unique accommodation! We hope to come back some day.

      Braileigh, Colorado, USA

    • Wonderful accommodation on a vineyard. The unit is very quiet as you are surrounded by vines.

We were lucky to be there when the machines came to harvest the grapes. Interesting to watch. At night the stars are easy to see as you are away from the bright city lights.

Very handy to the Rock Ferry Cafe, we walked across so didn't have to worry about driving.

Satu gave great recommendations as to where to eat while we stayed in Blenheim.

      Andrew, Wellington, NZ

    • Satu's place is fantastic! Private, well equipped, very clean, near to many wineries, and amazing views of vineyards and mountains.

      Highly recommended!

      Maureen, Canada

    • Had a fantastic time at Satu’s. Idyllic location in the middle of a Vineyard with views of the mountains on all sides.

Spacious, clean and modern apartment. Satu was very welcoming and gave us a private wine tasting session on our first day.
      Highly recommend.

      Danyal, UK

    • The location is perfect, just in front of the vineyard and not far from the town center.

The hosts are very nice and helpful and the wine tasting was fantastic.

      Mihaela, Germany

    • We loved our stay at the cottage! It has gorgeous views of the vineyard and feels very peaceful.

Satu and John were great hosts, and we were lucky enough to do a wine tasting of their delicious wines!

We also hired their bikes and did our own winery tour of the local wineries which are nice and close.

Thanks very much for having us - highly recommend!
